A Year of Marriage Full of So Much Fun! Part 1-2013

Well we've been married one year and almost two months and one thing's for sure...we stink at keeping up on this blog. So to fill everyone in and to preserve our memories here's a recap of some of the fun we've had in our first year of marriage.

Ensign Peak- We hiked Ensign Peak in SLC with my sister Lauren. Great view of the city we live in and amazing to think how much it's changed since the pioneers first climbed this peak.

Camping- We took some of our wedding money and bought us a tent and a few other things so we could go camping this summer. We were able to take a jeep from work and drive up Farmington Canyon as well as drive up Provo Canyon past Midway to Lodge pole campground.

Moving- In late June Mitch decided he was going to transfer to Utah Valley University in the Fall which meant we were now in the hunt for a place to live in Utah County. After searching we found an apartment in Provo and in August moved down a month before school started. We were sad to leave behind our first little(no really it was very very little) apartment that we had called home together but the move has been a blessing. We are now in a much nicer apartment (but after that first one anything feels nicer) and we are enjoying not having to commute as much as well as being in Provo where things are just a little less hectic compared to SLC. We also enjoy being closer to attend BYU sports events and one hour closer to our family in Kanab!

First apartment on the bottom floor was ours
UVU- Mitch started school at Utah Valley University and is enjoying his progress towards a degree in communication public relations and a minor in marketing.

Real Salt Lake Games- We were able to attend four RSL soccer games this past season including the exciting series winning playoff game vs L.A.

BYU Football- Of course as fall rolled around so did Football season. We were able to enjoy all six BYU home games and a trip to Logan,Utah with Mitch's sister, Lauren, and his Dad for the BYU vs. Utah State game.

San Diego- We took a trip with Mitch's family to San Diego in August and enjoyed many fun activities including a few days on Coronado Island beach and visiting the San Diego temple.

Christmas- We enjoyed our first Christmas together in Kanab. This was our first Christmas tree in our apartment in Provo.

Our New "Pet"

As I (Mitch) walked down the stairs to our apartment's front door a cat startled me by running out from under the cement under the stair that go up to the next level. As I came into our apartment I told Jillian about what had happened. Hearing there was a cat outside she quickly and happily ran out to see it. As we further investigated we found the cat back down in a big hole under the cement. The cat looked very scarred and had the saddest look on it's face. Jillian quickly went into mommy mode and started softly talking to the cat trying to coax her out. Jillian then ran into the house and next thing I know is coming out with a bag of lunch meat ham. She started tearing pieces and placing them near the hole hoping the cat would come out. The cat stayed there. So we went inside and watched through the peep hole to see if the cat would come eat her food. Soon the cat emerged from the hole and started eating the ham. Jillian softly went out and started talking to her again, the cat still timidly looking at the two of us.
A little later that night we went out to do laundry. I clearly remember shutting the door behind me as we headed out with our laundry baskets in hand. As we come back down the stairs to our apartment the door is cracked open about a foot. I quickly scream to Jillian "That Cat is in Our House!!" Jillian passes it off as nothing and says "no way!". Once inside I keep telling Jillian that that cat has to be in here. As I'm putting some things away I look up and down the hall to our bedroom as a cat tail passes by in my vision! I quickly yell out "That CAT is in OUR House!!!" I send Jillian down the hall and into the bedroom(she's still skeptic). As she rummages around the room she yells out "there is no cat in here!". She continues to look around and then! She find the Cat under our Bed!!! I'm now in the other room yelling back "I Told you!!" and after little bit of coaxing she is finally able to heard the cat out of our room, down the hall, and out the open door.
The next day I come home from work and Jillian gives me a hug, looks me in the eyes, and says" Soooo....I was at the dollar store.....and bought the cat some food." Oh Mama Jillian. She's going to be such a good mom. I guess we'll let her practice on our new little "Outside" pet. :)

April 30th and Our New Blog

April 30th is a date that will live on in Our lives Forever. For on this day one year ago Mitch asked Jillian to be his girlfriend. Both of us at this time were newly returned missionaries trying to figure out what steps we each needed to take. So we decided to take a chance on each other, and the feelings that we were both Feeling. As our lives started to come together, and as new changes began to happen, we both worked through the ups and downs of a relationship both wondering if this was all just a crush, or true love. As time went on we both came to the same conclusion... We had found Our Love and the one we wanted to be with Forever. We got engaged in Jillian's hometown on thanksgiving and were married on February 16th 2013 in St. George. Our lives have never been more full of joy as we now live our lives together. As we approached this April 30th, one year later, we realize we have been so blessed with each other and so much more. It's amazing to see all that has taken place in a year. We hope this blog will provide you with a glimpse into our lives and the joy that comes with being a family!
